No, I’m not talking about the game, we’re talking about gachas (or gotchas or gotyas which seem a bit more appropriate.) There have been countless debates surrounding them and quite a number of sl secrets posted about them. And regardless of whether you’re for or against, one thing is for certain. They are here to stay. And with the first of the month right around the corner, so comes another round of The Arcade. If not the most popular of the events then definitely the one that has capitalized the most from it. And has brought on quite a bit of drama with it. Rumors abound ranging from the machines were modifiable to let store owners change the odds of getting a rare to the event management team only inviting designers from their circle of friends. Are these true? Who knows. No one has yet to show proof and even if they do, I have little doubt that anything would come of it.

Now onto the other reason I wanted to write this post. To share my tips and guidelines for any gacha event. We all know how easy it is to finally get in after hours of failed teleports and start hitting machine after machine…. after machine. Spending thousands of our hard-earned lindens to get.. what? A hair that isn’t the color we wear or the same chair 3 times in a row? So below is a list of the rules I set for myself. If there’s anything you do differently or anything you would also like to add please comment below!

Rules For Gacha-ing

  1. Pay your damn tier first. You don’t want to be homeless with a shit ton of boxes to open.
  2. Don’t put more lindens in the machine than what the actual item is worth. i.e Most hair’s cost between 200L and 300L, why pay more?
  3. Speaking of… If there is a specific prize you want head to a yard sale. Yes, you might need to wait a day or two (maybe even a week) for someone to put it up for sale, but it’s worth it. For me, the best yard sale is A La Venta. They do a wonderful job every round organizing the booths and decorating the land.
  4. Before you even try to get onto the sim please take off all your huds (other than CheshireSoft to get in), pets.. hell just get naked and slap on that full body alpha you can get from the update group. One of the few times I wish I could reach my hand through the computer screen and bitch slap someone is when I see them {away} with a fucking dog, cat and some kind of dragon attached to them. Learn some manners.
  5. And lastly for me anyway. Prepare! Check out the shopping guide or flickr before heading over since ya know it’s gonna take forever before those textures load anyway and make a list of what you absolutely must have (YARD SALE!) and what machines you can play that it doesn’t matter what you get. And that’s it for me. Remember to comment below with any other tips or tricks you go by or just to tell me I’m wrong and a horrible person. Happy gambling!

  1. great guide… I honestly do SO bad at looking at the shopping guides beforehand… They’re there for a reason and I STILL fly in blind! (Usually literally!)
